Rejuvenating Wynberg

Wynberg has gone through some development and upgrades over the last couple of months by the City of Joburg to rejuvenate the area.

Below are a list of what has been happening in the area:
  1. Rautenbach Great walk linking Alexandra, Wynberg and Sandton is running its last project mileage in Wynberg where the contractor is installing the landscaping along the Rautenbach Avenue in Wynberg. The building of the Pedestrian bridge is in progress by the appointed contractor Murray and Robberts. The project is aimed for completion by the 2018 financial year and to date we have been informed that the contractor is still on schedule.
  2. Bophelong Construction has recently completed the phase of their project on time to JDA for the construction of Rea-Vaya lanes along Pretoria Main Road and sidewalks had been revamped along Pretoria Main Road.
  3. WBHO is currently on site along Lees Street building the dedicated Rea-Vaya bridge over the M1 highway through Lees Street and the construction is running on schedule with minimum disruption to the business. Currently parts of Lees street is closed for public vehicles and traffic diversion are in place to ensure safety of all.
  4. We also seen property owners investing in their properties within Wynberg to improve the look and feel of their properties. The capital development by property owners in Wynberg is spread out in the area from Pretoria Main Road, Thora Crescent, 6th Street, 5 Street and 4 Street.
  5. There is also plans to relocate the City of Joburg Regional offices to Watt Interchange and the project at the moment is on planning phase by JPC and JDA. The City of Joburg has bought the piece of land from Zotos to realise this project.
